Now entering their 13th year, the Retail Industry Awards have become firmly established as the “Oscars” of the grocery industry, rewarding excellence in a raft of retail categories. The 2008 Retail Industry Awards were held on 25 September at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. As always, the event was unique occasion. The whole industry got together to recognise the smallest independent retailers alongside the largest supermarket groups.There were 17 award categories for retailers to take part in this year. There were opportunities for individual retailers and entrepreneurs, independent stores, store managers, convenience chains, symbol groups, multiple supermarkets and international convenience store formats.
