Jammie Dodger and Maryland Munch bars now in singles

Wednesday, 27 August 2008
Burton’s Foods has announced that its tasty Jammie Dodger Snack Bars and Maryland Munch Bars are now available in a single bar format, making healthier on-the-go snacking even more convenient for consumers.

Originally launched in April this year in multi-packs, the cereal bars will now be available as single bars within counter display units (CDU) of 24.

The products make an ideal addition to the healthier snacking lines of supermarkets, convenience stores and newsagents and with the CDU format, can be merchandised on the counter.

The single bars are also perfect for vending machines in canteens, leisure outlets, stations and airports.

Healthier on-the-go snacking is a growing consumer trend and cash-rich, time-poor individuals are looking to retailers to provide them with products that meet their needs.

The Jammie Dodger Snack Bars and Maryland Munch Bars offer consumers a healthier snacking alternative, and now in single bar format it is easier than ever for those on the move to pick up a light bite.

Targeting children aged 5-12, the Jammie Dodgers Snack Bars are full of cereal goodness and contain fruit pieces and a ’Jammie Dodger’ flavour fruit filling.

Building on the success of the children’s number one biscuit brand, the Jammie Dodger snack bars are portion-controlled, making them an ideal accompaniment to lunchboxes, as an after school treat and suitable for all on-the-go occasions.

The Maryland Munch Bars bring together the nation’s favourite cookie pieces, wholegrain, cereal goodness and chocolate chips. They offer consumers a new way to enjoy the great taste of Maryland in a more permissible product format that can be slipped into a pocket, bag, purse or glove box to satisfy hunger pangs on-the-go.

Jaspal Chada, marketing director at Burton’s Foods said, “The healthier biscuit segment is the 2nd fastest growing segment in the biscuit category. That growth is being driven by cereal bars. Consumer demand for ‘on-the-go’ snacks in portion-controlled formats is an emerging trend and with the launch of the singles format we are poised to meet that trend.”

He continues, “These portion-controlled cereal snack bars satisfy a wider range of consumers on different occasions, whether that be ‘on-the-go’ or as an after school snack.”
