M&S begins campaign following bag success

Tuesday, 26 August 2008
Marks & Spencer (M&S) is to start a new advertising campaign after it reduced the number of plastic bags it gives out to the public by 80%.

The retailer revealed that since a charge was placed on plastic bags it has been able to drum up £500,000 for charitable causes, reports the Daily Mail.

Now the campaign will be used in the windows of over 150 stores as a mark of celebration for the initiative.

M&S director of the company's eco drive Richard Gillies said that this is just the beginning of more sustainable policies.

"Using our windows to communicate what we have achieved so far is a really powerful way to encourage even more M&S customers to change their behaviour and stop using single-use carrier bags," he commented.
